Samsung Media Solutions Center boss Hong Won-pyo has stated that Samsung plans to phase out the Bada operating system and focus its efforts on the new Tizen OS. Viewed as some as a maneuver to distance themselves from Google`s Android or just a precautionary move Tizen is also an open source mobile OS that will be launching in July or August of this year.
"Samsung's Bada operating system has captured a very slim piece of the mobile OS market and the company has put its best products on Android, reflecting that. However, Samsung is now leading the charge with Intel for Tizen to become the alternative of choice for those who don't want to buy iOS or Android. The operating system is open-source and based on Linux. Tizen also fully embraces HTML5."
with the Motorola acquisition Google is not favouring Samsung anymore, will be interesting to see how the rest of the Android vendors react, remember Microsoft`s Play4sure and Zune?
