Is Apple using a different mapping technology in IOS 6?

Rumour has it that Apple will drop the Google Maps running on iOS since 2007 in favor for a new Maps app with an Apple backend.
It is described as much cleaner and faster than Google Maps.
Apple will be dropping the Google Maps app in iOS 6 due to their purchases of Placebase, C3 Technologies, and Poly9, acquisitions that Apple has used to create a complete mapping database. The 3D mode is said to be using technology straight from C3. Realistic graphics based on de-classified missile target algorithms. The new app will allegedly be called "Maps"
